Wheel Alignment

Wheel Alignment & balancing

A proper alignment means less wear and tear on steering and suspension components. When a vehicle’s alignment is out from the manufacturer recommended specification, it can cause the vehicle to drift, float or pull in different directions. This can be unsafe for you, your family and the vehicle.

Some vehicles are not equipped from the factory with the necessary hardware to make all the required alignment adjustments.

In these instances, modified bolts and or eccentric bolt kits and spacers need to be installed before proper adjustments can be made. Some repair shops will not take the extra time needed to install these kits and therefore will not perform all the required adjustments. This results in poor alignment and premature tyre wear. If you are not being informed of any additional adjustments, ask to see a printout of the vehicle specifications and current adjustments.

Service kits usually require additional labour to install them. The cost of each kit varies depending on the vehicle. One of our team will be able to answer all of your questions.

state of the art Hunter Alignment Machine

This means we are capable of a simple front end adjustment or a complete full four wheel alignment. We always recommend an alignment when new tyres are fitted to ensure you get the best value out of your new tyres. If one of our team feels that your vehicles alignment is not within its proper specification, we can discuss the proper steps to take.

Wheel Balancing

Rotating tyres every 10,000km after a wheel alingment will keep them wearing evenly. Front tyres always wear a little faster than rears because you are constantly turning them which causes more stress and wear. Rotating front tyres to the rear, and moving the rears to the front will keep all four tyres wearing evenly.

Tyre balancing is done in house with our modern wheel balancing machine. Unbalanced tyres can cause a wobble and vibration while driving. That can cause discomfort for the passengers and can add to wear on steering and suspension components.

Having a set of four tyres balanced while they are off the vehicle for a rotation is never a bad idea! If you’re in need of a balance and rotation, come and see us at Peninsula Tyres.
